Deposit Services – Brief Summaries
Regular Share (Savings) Account
Whether you just need to place a stash of cash short term or you’re looking for long-term investment vehicles, your Credit Union has what you need. For as little as $25 you can open a regular share account and enjoy the membership privileges of the credit union. Balances in the regular share account of $100 or more will earn a dividend set by the Board of Directors at the end of each quarter. Dividends are paid quarterly based on a day in day out basis.
Share Draft (Checking) Account
A checking account from your credit union offers you the savings and convenience you want to manage your personal day-to-day finances. Savings comes from not having to worry about maintaining a certain required minimum, or paying a monthly maintenance fee, or paying a per item fee as you do at some financial institutions. Checking with us is a breeze! It takes only $50 to open a checking account. You may also apply for Overdraft Protection to cover those checkbook errors and prevent returned checks.
Christmas Club Share (Savings) Accounts
Open a Christmas Club share (savings) account to save for that special time of year. Funds in the Christmas Club account are paid by check or may be transferred to your AgFirst Federal Credit Union savings or checking account early in November. No minimum balance to open. An emergency withdrawal may be allowed during the year; however, the account must be closed and not reopened until after regular disbursement of funds in November. Payroll deduction may be available. Dividends are figured on a day in day out basis and are determined by the Board of Directors at quarter end.
IRA Share (Savings) Accounts (Traditional & Roth)
IRA share accounts are available for both Traditional and Roth IRA accounts. These accounts require a minimum balance of $25 and interest is paid quarterly. Dividends are figured on a day in day out basis and are determined by the Board of Directors at quarter end.
Coverdell Education Share (Savings) Account
The Coverdell Education share (savings) account was formerly known as the Education IRA. This account may be opened with a $500 deposit. You may deposit $2,000 per child each year to their Coverdell Education share (savings) account. Dividends are figured on a day in day out basis and are determined by the Board of Directors at quarter end.
